About Aces Car Club
The Aces were started in Bellflower, CA in 1952 by several members including the late Bob Hill Sr. After a decade of traditional hot rod builds, runs and shows, the club grew apart and eventually dissolved in the mid 60s.

In 2001, Bob Hill Jr. and Dana Harvey were conversing about the camaraderie of car clubs. Bob mentioned his father was a founding member of a 1952 car club, the Aces. Bob Jr. remembers many stories about the early days of hot rodding as told by his father. Bob Sr also spoke of his club and the Aces early days when he attended Excelsior High School (class of ’55).

Back then; Bob Sr. worked at a filling station on the corner of Firestone and Norwalk. Many early hot rodders stopped there to fill up including the Barris Brothers and Kenneth Howard, aka Von Dutch. Bob Sr. would speak of times like when they would bet people passing by $5 that they could ride a cycle to the end of the Long Beach Pike, standing on the seat. That’s right, crazy! But on a good day they would walk away with $100. Other club members were friends as well, such as the ‘Jokers” and the “Sultans”.

As Bob and Dana continued, he mentioned his father passed away in 1999, during which he ran across so many cool hot rod items from the old days, including the original club plaque and jacket. Thus the resurrection was put into motion. We have a small but close club that enjoy all things hot rod and helping each other with their cars, often including family. Three chapters exist at present, So. Cal., Nevada and Europe.
